Training Horses

Alacrity Equestrian Centre is an equine behaviour centre dedicated to training not only riders but also horses.

We use techniques developed by Dr Andrew Mclean, based on Equine Learning Theory. These teach the horse correct responses to the aids, deleting flight response and tension, to produce a relaxed and easy ride.

This method is a scientific approach to horse training that takes into consideration how the horse learns and responds to his environment and external stimuli, aiming to minimize conflict behaviour that is too often shown by horses trained in other methods.

Breaking In / Foundation Training

This offers your young horse a great start to life . You can expect your horse started at Alacrity Equestrian Centre to be calm and responsive, able to stop, go and turn off a light aid. This basic training will set your horse on the right path no matter if this is a racing or dressage career or a family hack.

 

Remedial Training

We can take your horse for schooling and behaviour modification. We use a mixture of in hand and under saddle work to help him respond to your aids in the correct manner, without flight or fear. These methods can them be taught to the rider/owner for continued success.

 

Foal handling and weaning

Teaching your young stock to lead, tie up, have feet handled and trimmed and wear a cover

 

Pre training racehorses

We can prepare your thoroughbred for the trainer, we have many years experience in the racing industry managing racing stables so you can be assured your horse will be conditioned to your trainers needs. Your horse will be worked out along country roads to develop both his physical and mental health.

 

Float Training

For difficult loaders.
We can travel to you.

 

Preparation for sale

We can prepare your racehorse for the yearling sales or your sport horse for sale
